Pat Murphy
CPA, JD, CFE, CAMS

Pat Murphy, owner, works with a range of clients to address complex disputes, mitigate internal risks and gain the upper hand in litigation proceedings. He has more than 35 years of investigative experience.

 

Experience

Most recently, Pat was a Co-Managing Director of Investigations with Prescient, a global investigative, due diligence, cyber and intelligence firm. Pat worked at Prescient for 8 years, leading teams who worked with law firms and corporate security, providing litigation support, conducting internal investigations and providing threat assessments of internal and external threat actors. 

Before joining Prescient, Pat served as a Director of Forensic, Investigative & Dispute Services at Grant Thornton. Pat’s team worked with outside counsel on internal investigations of fraud and corruption.

Pat began his investigative career at the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent and later Supervisory Special Agent.  During his 27 years with the FBI, he investigated and supervised numerous complex financial crimes and investigations of corrupt public officials. His achievements include the successful investigation, prosecution and conviction of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, for which he received both the U.S. Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service and the FBI Director’s Award for Outstanding Investigation. Pat has served at FBI field offices in the United States and overseas, including Chicago, Sacramento, Detroit and Baghdad.

 

Education

B.S.C. in Accounting from DePaul University

J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Pat  co-wrote a detailed article on the arrest of Governor Blagojevich, published by Chicago Magazine, The Day They Came for the Governor and was also interviewed in episode "Blago!" of Netflix series Trial by Media and the podcast Public Official A.

M.S. in Accounting 

Chris Murphy, Investigative Assistant, provides support with litigation and forensic accounting matters. He has earned a Master of Science in Accounting from Benedictine University.
